"Invocation" at Dancing For A Vision (Kryss' Combined Classes)

Belly Dance, Middle Eastern Dance, Dans Oriental, Danse de Ventre, Tribal Style Belly Dance, Cabaret Fusion and many more names are given to the dance styles that come out of the music and culture of the Middle East.

Belly Dance, in all it's styles, is  spiritually grounding, physically rewarding and aesthetically pleasing.  It is a graceful artform that builds physical awareness, greater self-confidence and new friendships. Belly Dance is accesible for women (and men) of all ages and sizes. Because the focus of Belly Dance movements is on the torso, the student benefits from proper posture, core strength and love of her belly. Exposing your belly is not required but give it a few classes and you'll be rolling up your shirt to see your movements clearly and true love is not far behind.

At the beginner level the various styles are very similar as foundational movements are universal. At Crescent Lotus, we encourage our students to take classes with all of our teachers, in all the styles, until you find the one that works for you. Belly Dance History & Rhythm Appreciation Series

Let's talk about fact and fiction of where today's Belly Dance comes from and how the growing art has evolved over the past century. Bring snacks and/or wine. We'll be watching lots of video, surveying some Orientalist paintings and beating out the common Middle Eastern rhythms used for Belly Dance on legs, floor, pots and pans.

BellyFusion Technique with Kryss
These classes cover Belly Dance from muscle isolations to use of the breath to alter quality of movement. Style is based on Kryss' knowledge of Egyptian Cabaret, Turkish Orientale and American Vintage Belly Dance as well as her extesive training in Ballet, Modern, Flamenco, Indian Classical Dance and Dancemeditation techniques.
Beginners: Thursdays 6p-7p, Sundays 3:15p-4:15p
(10 Week Session Begins February 2 & March 4, 2012)
Beginner II: Mondays 6p-7p "Aiwa Aiwa" Choreography Focus
Intermediate: Fridays 6:45-7:45(until Dec 16)
Sundays 4:30p-5:30p (10 Week Session Begins March 4)

Advanced: Mondays 8:30p-9:30p

Performance Polishing & Troupe Rehearsal: By Invite Only

Belly Dance Cardio, Stretch & Strengthen
with Kryss
Wednesdays 5:45p-6:45p

Get your booty shakin' and your heart pumpin'!!! The first half of class is cardio and strength circuits,  pulling elements from the Folkloric styles of Belly Dance and foundations of technique. The second half using exercises from Pilates, Ballet, Yoga, Dancemeditation, Classical Indian and of course, Belly Dance technique  to gain greater strength,  increase flexibility and range of motion  and bring you back to a grounded and relaxed centeredness. Open to ALL Levels...this includes non-dancers as well.

All Belly Dance classe with Kryss are $15 to Drop In with discounted class cards available for purchase.

This 8-week session will focus on improvisation in duets, trios, quartets, and chorus work. Our time together will be spent reviewing and creating movements and combinations, learning cues and transitions, understanding how slow and fast movements can blend together, and learning to interpret music effectively to create effective group dynamic. Most importantly, though, we'll dance!
